In
keeping with our tradition of
invoking the blessing of the Goddess of knowledge, music and art during
the "Saraswati Puja", we have planned a Talent show and an Art
Competition for children.
Art
Competition for children
(ages 4-8 and 9-12)
There
will be two
groups - ages 4-8 and 9-12. The theme for this years art competition
is Your
favorite thing (can be a pet, toy, place etc.). The Art
Competition will be judged by two of our senior Pragati members and we
will announce winners from each age group. We will provide the paper,
and request that
all participants bring their own art supplies. Please register for the
competition at the front desk half hour before start time.
Talent
Show for children
(ages 3-14)
We
encourage all
children participate
in the talent show!
Each
child will be
allowed to perform one act only
(i.e. one song, one dance, one poem, etc.) and will have to do so within
exactly 3 minutes. A buzzer will go off
once the allocated time is up. Whether your child is performing a solo
or a duet or in a group, the time limit will remain the same (3 minutes and only one act). We would
like to ensure that every child gets an opportunity to perform,
therefore we will strictly enforce the time for each performance.
We
request that
parents contact Soma
Mukherjee at soma_m@pragati.org
or Ujjal
Gupta at ujjal_g@pragati.org
with their
child's name, age, brief summary about their performance and the
contact phone number by January 21st, 2012. Requests
made after
this date cannot be honored since programming will have to be finalized
sufficiently in advance of the event.
Cultural
Program
A variety of songs that celebrate life. These would include prayers to Goddess Saraswati, selections from Tagore and other modern Bengali composers. Directed by Mita Nandi.
Thanks
and kind
regards,
Pragati
